About the position

The Sales Representative (Account Executive) role at Top Hat involves managing an exclusive territory of colleges and universities, where the representative will develop relationships with professors, demonstrate the value of Top Hat's educational platform, and convert them into clients. This position emphasizes autonomy in business development and aims to enhance the educational experience for students and professors alike.

Responsibilities

  • Find, create, facilitate, and close new business opportunities in assigned accounts.
  • Represent and sell the full suite of Top Hat and approved partner products and services, including digital textbook content and SaaS platform.
  • Effectively position and message Top Hat's value proposition to professors or department leaders using inside and outside sales techniques.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Development Representatives, Customer Success Managers, and internal product and marketing partners to ensure a great customer experience and maximize revenue growth.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a high-volume sales role, preferably selling to professors in person on campus.
  • Ability to drive and close large/complex deals, prospect effectively, and manage the full sales cycle including cold calling, demos, discovery, solution presentation, negotiation, and closing.
  • Experience working in a metrics-driven environment and ability to remain positive when facing objections.
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply feedback/coaching quickly.

Nice-to-haves
