About the position

Crown Equipment Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of lift trucks, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual for the entry-level position of Sales Representative/Business Development Representative in Chicago, IL. This role is designed for individuals looking to develop their careers in sales, with the primary objective of progressing into more advanced roles such as Account Representative, Aftermarket Sales Representative, or Account Manager. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that provides local support to customers while leveraging the extensive resources of a global organization. As a Sales Representative, you will be responsible for selling select products within a designated geographical territory and/or assigned accounts. This position requires a proactive approach to sales, including making sales calls to qualify prospects both in person and over the phone. You will also be involved in generating leads and participating in corporate and local campaigns aimed at increasing market presence. Collaboration with various departments within the branch is essential to ensure customer satisfaction and effective territory management. Training is a key component of this role, with opportunities to participate in local training activities, field training, and occasional sessions at the corporate headquarters in New Bremen, Ohio. Responsibilities

  • Sell select products in a geographical territory and/or assigned accounts.
  • Assist other sales positions with territory management and communication.
  • Participate in corporate and local campaigns.
  • Make sales calls to qualify prospects in person and over the telephone.
  • Generate leads and track follow-up of leads and inquiries.
  • Participate in training activities locally, in the field, and occasionally at the corporate headquarters.
  • Collaborate with various departments within the branch.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, entrepreneurship, professional selling, or related business program is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sales or customer service roles is a plus.
  • Familiarity with material handling equipment or related industries.
