About the position

Crown Equipment Corporation is seeking a Sales Representative/Business Development Representative for its Plymouth, Michigan location. This entry-level position is designed for individuals looking to develop their careers in sales within the material handling equipment industry. The primary objective of this role is to grow into more advanced sales positions such as Account Representative, Aftermarket Sales Representative, or Account Manager. The successful candidate will be part of a global organization that prides itself on providing local support through a vast network of manufacturing facilities and retail locations worldwide. In this role, the Sales Representative will be responsible for selling select products within a designated geographical territory and/or assigned accounts. The position may involve working collaboratively with other sales team members to manage territories effectively and ensure clear communication. The representative will participate in both corporate and local sales campaigns, making sales calls to qualify prospects both in person and over the phone. Generating leads and tracking inquiries will be essential components of the job, as will participating in training activities that may take place locally, in the field, or at the corporate headquarters in New Bremen, Ohio. Collaboration with various departments within the branch will also be a key aspect of the role, ensuring that customer needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Sell select products in a geographical territory and/or assigned accounts.
  • Assist other sales positions with territory management and communication.
  • Participate in corporate and local campaigns.
  • Make sales calls to qualify prospects in person and over the telephone.
  • Generate leads and track inquiries.
  • Participate in training activities locally, in the field, and occasionally at the corporate headquarters.
  • Collaborate with various departments within the branch.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, entrepreneurship, professional selling, or related business program is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record; ability to safely operate lift trucks for product demos.
