About the position

The Sales Representative for Catanese Classic Seafood is responsible for promoting and selling seafood products to existing and prospective customers in the Cincinnati-Dayton area. This role emphasizes building and maintaining strong customer relationships, understanding customer needs, and maximizing sales and gross profit. The representative will engage in direct sales activities, manage customer orders, and provide solutions to customer issues while keeping abreast of market trends and competitive activities.

Responsibilities

  • Promote, sell, and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship approach.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of products and services to assist customers in selecting the best options.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain business relationships with customers to generate new business.
  • Make in-person visits and presentations to customers.
  • Take customer orders with a focus on sales and gross profit maximization.
  • Participate in order input and communication with inside sales partners.
  • React timely to customer problems and needs.
  • Review daily out of stocks, shortages, and transportation issues, implementing solutions quickly.
  • Provide weekly detailed sales logs to the Sales Manager.
  • Analyze daily/weekly sales and margin reports for improvement opportunities.
  • Stay informed about product applications, market conditions, and competitive activities.
  • Participate in company activities including sales training and meetings.
  • Coordinate communication between customer Accounts Payable and Catanese Classics account receivable manager.
  • Control weekly sales outstanding and recognize signs of potential issues with orders.
  • Update bid files, customer profiles, and call sheets to ensure pricing accuracy and reduce returns.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 3 or more years of experience in sales.
  • Deep expertise in seafood or specialty category, or restaurant/culinary background.
  • Consultative sales ability with a focus on customer growth.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
  • Strong customer relations skills and urgency in meeting customer needs.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and master AFS, the ERP system.
