About the position

This is a non-exempt inside sales position where the Sales Representative is responsible for soliciting and selling insurance products and services to both existing and new businesses. The role involves maintaining and expanding an existing book of business while enhancing the public image of the Agency through proactive engagement and relationship building.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively use sales techniques to identify prospective clients and generate leads for additional business.
  • Generate a steady flow of qualified prospects from own leads and company supplied leads, soliciting referrals from existing customers.
  • Contact and qualify prospective clients, explaining features and merits of policies offered and recommending coverage based on analysis of their circumstances.
  • Deliver and explain policies to policyholders, suggesting additions or changes in their insurance programs.
  • Design insurance and risk management plans for clients.
  • Review outstanding account receivables, collect payments in a timely manner, and keep records of payments.
  • Assist policyholders in settling insurance claims in the event of a loss.
  • Anticipate future needs and call on established clients to renew and upgrade accounts.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of clients' and carriers' business needs.
  • Gather complete client information necessary for marketing accounts and update information at each renewal.
  • Complete an annual client exposure analysis and meet with Marketing Manager and Account Executives on each client renewal to develop strategies.
  • Work with Account Executive throughout the renewal process and offer value-added services to promote customer loyalty.
  • Assist the Agency in developing carrier relationships and participate in carrier-sponsored activities.
  • Refer current and prospective clients to other departments for solicitation of additional lines of business.
  • Participate in continuing professional development as required by state licensing requirements and Agency procedures.

Requirements

  • Must have more than one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a self-starter, imaginative, and creative with good communication skills and strong sales skills.
  • Must be competitive, persistent, and self-reliant, with high energy and sales drive.
  • Must be able to cold-call on prospects, influence others, and close sales.
  • Must hold appropriate and valid insurance licenses.
