About the position

The Sales Representative II at Thermo Fisher Scientific is responsible for managing the total territory sales of research products and services within a defined area, specifically targeting key accounts such as Yale University and Alexion Pharmaceuticals. This role involves maintaining customer relations, developing growth opportunities, and ensuring market penetration while achieving sales forecasts. The position also serves as a team leader, collaborating with a sales teammate to drive strategic and tactical plans for the territory.

Responsibilities

  • Manage total territory sales of research products and services within assigned territory.
  • Develop and maintain effective customer relations with purchasing and end-users.
  • Perform sales calls and vendor relations with customers in the assigned territory.
  • Stay updated on competitor and industry activity and incorporate this information into the business plan.
  • Work collaboratively with a teammate assigned to the same territory.
  • Manage pricing within the territory to control profitability.
  • Maintain accurate reporting, records, and files necessary for effective management of territory.
  • Communicate customer issues or potential problems to the supervisor.
  • Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific positively at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in the sciences.
  • 2+ years of sales experience, preferably in the research laboratory industry.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office, Sales Force, and the internet.
  • Organizational skills to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations.
