About the position

As a Sales Representative - Territory Manager at US Foods, Inc., you will play a crucial role in fostering customer relationships within a team-based selling model. Your primary responsibility will be to manage deliveries according to the routing schedule provided by the transportation department, ensuring that any issues that arise during the order process, such as delivery mis-picks, short loads, or stock-outs, are promptly addressed. You will also be responsible for communicating and collecting accounts receivable as necessary, collaborating with the credit department and clients to ensure all balances due are collected based on approved credit terms. In addition to managing existing accounts, you will leverage various resources to assist with top penetration opportunities and the opening of new accounts. This will involve developing new business by identifying prospective customers through market intelligence databases, business directories, and leads from existing clients. Participation in organizations, clubs, trade shows, and conferences will also be part of your strategy to expand the customer base. You will need to stay informed about market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' offerings, sharing this valuable information with customers as part of the value-added services provided by US Foods. Your role will require you to drive a motor vehicle to visit existing customers and prospects, ensuring product delivery. This may involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs. The position does not include any direct reports, but you will work closely with various internal teams, including the District Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and the VP of Local Sales, as well as external relationships with customers and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Foster the customer relationship in a team-based selling model.
  • Manage deliveries to the routing schedule published by the transportation department; troubleshoot any problems that occur during the order process.
  • Communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working with the credit department and client; collect all balances due based on approved credit terms.
  • Leverage other resources to assist with top penetration opportunities and new accounts opening.
  • Develop new business; identify prospective customers by utilizing market intelligence databases, business directories, and leads from existing clients.
  • Participate in organizations and clubs, and attend trade shows and conferences to identify new business opportunities.
  • Know the market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales; share information with customers as part of value-added services provided.
  • Drive motor vehicle to existing customers and prospects to ensure product delivery, which may include lifting/carrying up to 75lbs.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of sales experience preferred.
  • Foodservice industry/culinary/restaurant management/hospitality experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships and cold call to develop new business.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
