About the position

The Sales Representative position at Summit Fire & Security is focused on driving the growth of the organization through the acquisition of new business in fire protection services. This role involves both outside and inside sales, engaging with various construction types, and fostering relationships with customers to ensure continued sales success. The Sales Representative will lead the sales process from initial contact to contract acquisition, while also supporting project management and accounting functions.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire sales leads for new work including installations for fire alarm and detection, low voltage, clean agents, security, and other services.
  • Provide outside and inside sales support.
  • Solicit all building and construction types including new construction, renovations, additions, and retrofits.
  • Lead the sales process from initial contact to acquisition of contract/Notice to Proceed.
  • Generate new relationships and foster existing relationships among the customer base for continued sales.
  • Generate new proposals, follow up on active proposals, and close sales on active proposals.
  • Communicate the status of active proposals to management.
  • Attend internal and external meetings for coordination and planning purposes.
  • Represent the company professionally among customers and industry stakeholders.
  • Assist Project Managers and Design Department with communication and coordination of work.
  • Assist Accounting personnel with job setup, monitoring profitability, and billing.
  • Utilize accounting software for tracking costs and billing activities.
  • Assist with general marketing activities and promotion of the company.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's in Business or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience in business development or Fire Life Safety sales preferred.
  • 2 years of experience operating a computer and using Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees, customers, and board of directors.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Reliable transportation required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fire protection or safety industry sales.
  • Familiarity with accounting software for tracking costs and billing.
