About the position

The Sales Specialist at Petco is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and engaging with guests to enhance their shopping experience. This role focuses on assisting customers with their selections, demonstrating a strong interest in animal welfare, and achieving sales goals while maintaining a safe and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage with guests to provide a great experience using acquired skills and training.
• Assist guests in selecting and recommending merchandise and services based on their needs.
• Demonstrate a high level of interest in the welfare, health, and proper handling of all animals.
• Process register transactions and create a positive experience for each guest.
• Generate future business through understanding guests and their pets, connecting them to digital platforms.
• Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed effectively for guests.
• Complete training programs to maintain expertise in the role.
• Adhere to operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Promote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
• Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of sales experience is required.
• High level of knowledge of pet nutrition and sales techniques is necessary.
• Professional appearance and demeanor with a genuine interest in animals and their care.
• Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills are essential.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior pet nutrition experience and experience working with or caring for pets is recommended.
