About the position

The Sales Team Manager is responsible for leading the sales team within the store, ensuring efficient execution of the selling function, and driving sales performance. This exempt position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and coach sales associates to meet sales goals and deliver exceptional customer service. The role involves training staff, managing performance, and collaborating with other teams to enhance the overall customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed area sales goals through training, coaching, and managing sales associates.
  • Drive the total Customer Experience through in-store and Omni-channel performance.
  • Provide training and coaching to ensure associates exhibit key service behaviors.
  • Motivate and coach sales associates to meet or exceed credit goals and improve team performance.
  • Ensure shrinkage control through continual training and management of associates.
  • Train and coach associates on clientelling efforts and its benefits.
  • Drive National Sales Events and ensure sales team goals are met.
  • Establish and maintain a daily recovery plan.
  • Ensure dressing rooms are maintained to audit and AP standards.
  • Collaborate with the visual team for regular training of sales associates.
  • Support overall merchandise presentation in collaboration with the Merchandising Team Manager.
  • Maintain a safe shopping and working environment.
  • Complete bi-monthly status checks to monitor sales associate performance.
  • Provide effective coaching to improve performance of all sales team associates.
  • Utilize corrective action processes to document and coach poor performers.
  • Recognize and motivate sales associates to improve sales and customer service.
  • Communicate upcoming activities and store achievements using Belk boards.
  • Maintain high levels of team engagement and timely communication of policies.
  • Recruit, interview, select, and retain quality associates.
  • Work with Lead Scheduler to develop weekly schedules based on customer traffic and sales.
  • Supervise and manage the customer service experience in assigned departments.
  • Open and close the store, including weekends, as needed.
  • Approve escalated point of sale transactions when needed.
  • Resolve customer service issues as needed.
  • Understand and use all building operating systems.
  • Manage operational tasks such as receiving, processing, and placement of merchandise.
  • Oversee price change management and merchandise return management.
  • Ensure maintenance and housekeeping standards are met.
  • Direct floor sets and floor moves, as well as sale sets and signing.
  • Follow all policies related to asset protection and safety, including floor sweeps.
  • Ensure team uses safety equipment in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Support the review and execution of store internal audit processes.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in retail management.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Proficient in business-related computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc).
