About the position

Yamato Corporation is seeking a Sales Territory Manager for the Midwest region, specifically based in Chicago, Illinois. This role is pivotal in promoting and selling automatic, checkweigher, and industrial products within the defined territory. The Sales Territory Manager will be responsible for engaging with end users and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to drive sales and regain market awareness for new machine sales, Genuine Yamato Parts, and service offerings. The position requires a proactive approach to assess customer needs, develop strategies, and implement tactics to achieve sales goals as outlined by company management. The Sales Territory Manager will be expected to visit manufacturing plants, which may involve climbing ladders and mezzanines averaging 15 feet in height to assess equipment needs. This role demands a strong understanding of the market and the ability to collaborate effectively with other sales representatives and departments within Yamato, including Applications Engineering and Project Management. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing monthly reports and forecasts, utilizing a CRM system to manage the sales pipeline, and participating in quarterly sales meetings and trade shows, both domestically and internationally. Candidates must have a proven track record in capital equipment sales, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in packaging or related fields. The role requires excellent organizational, communication, and technical skills, particularly with Windows-based software. The ability to travel extensively, with a minimum of 51% travel required, is essential, along with a valid driver's license and passport for international travel. Responsibilities

  • Directs sales activities to end users to regain market awareness for new machine sales, Genuine Yamato Parts, and service.
  • Visits manufacturing plants and assesses machine equipment needs by climbing mezzanines and ladders averaging 15 feet in height.
  • Achieves designated annual sales quota.
  • Collaborates with Yamato OEMs' representatives and agents in the territory.
  • Coordinates sales activities with other Yamato Sales Territory Managers.
  • Assesses, creates, and implements strategies and tactics needed to achieve goals as outlined by Yamato management.
  • Cooperates and coordinates with all departments (primarily Applications Engineering and Project Management) within Yamato relating to activities in the territory.
  • Assesses current market situations and provides recommendations for marketing activities to increase sales.
  • Develops a proficient knowledge of all Yamato equipment.
  • Provides monthly reports and forecasts, and other information and reports as requested.
  • Utilizes CRM system to manage sales pipeline following the sales standard operating procedures.
  • Participates in quarterly sales meetings at Yamato in Grafton, Wisconsin.
  • Attends U.S. and international trade shows as directed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in capital equipment sales, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in packaging and/or related training.
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Technical skill in Windows-based software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
  • Ability to handle short periods of time in cold, damp, or warm plant environments during customer/prospect visits.
  • Ability to climb ladders and mezzanines averaging 15 feet in height.
  • Must have valid driver's license and must be insurable.
  • Requires a valid passport to travel outside of the United States.
