About the position

Yamato Corporation is seeking a Sales Territory Manager for the Midwest region, responsible for the sales and promotion of automatic, checkweigher, and industrial products. This role involves engaging with end users and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to drive sales and regain market awareness for new machine sales, Genuine Yamato Parts, and service offerings. The Sales Territory Manager will assess customer needs by visiting manufacturing plants, which may require climbing ladders and mezzanines averaging 15 feet in height. The position demands a proactive approach to achieving designated annual sales quotas and requires collaboration with other sales representatives and departments within Yamato, such as Applications Engineering and Project Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to meet sales goals as outlined by management. This includes providing monthly reports and forecasts, utilizing a CRM system to manage the sales pipeline, and participating in quarterly sales meetings at the company headquarters in Grafton, Wisconsin. The role also involves attending U.S. and international trade shows as directed, which may require standing and walking for extended periods, up to 8 hours a day, while engaging with customers and prospects. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic work environment that may involve short periods in varying plant conditions, including cold, damp, or warm environments. The territory covered will primarily be in the Midwest, with potential changes based on business needs and managerial discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Directs sales activities to end users to regain market awareness for new machine sales, Genuine Yamato Parts, and service.
  • Visits manufacturing plants and assesses machine equipment needs by climbing mezzanines and ladders averaging 15 feet in height.
  • Achieves designated annual sales quota.
  • Collaborates with Yamato OEMs' representatives and agents in the territory.
  • Coordinates sales activities with other Yamato Sales Territory Managers.
  • Assesses, creates, and implements strategies and tactics needed to achieve goals as outlined by Yamato management.
  • Cooperates and coordinates with all departments (primarily Applications Engineering and Project Management) within Yamato relating to activities in the territory.
  • Assesses current market situations and provides recommendations for marketing activities to increase sales.
  • Develops a proficient knowledge of all Yamato equipment.
  • Provides monthly reports and forecasts, and other information and reports as requested.
  • Utilizes CRM system to manage sales pipeline following the sales standard operating procedures.
  • Participates in quarterly sales meetings at Yamato in Grafton, Wisconsin.
  • Attends U.S. and international trade shows as directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree, 5 to 10 years related packaging experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Capital equipment sales experience highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Technical skill of Windows based software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
  • Ability to handle short periods of time in cold, damp or warm plant environments during customer/prospect visits.
  • Ability to climb ladders and mezzanines averaging 15 feet in height.
  • Must have valid driver's license and must be insurable.
  • Requires a valid passport to travel outside of the United States.
