About the position

The Sales Territory Manager position at AAA Cooper Transportation (ACT) is a vital role focused on maintaining and expanding existing accounts within a designated territory. This position requires a proactive approach to identify opportunities for productivity and profitability improvements while also managing National Accounts at a local level. The Sales Territory Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs are communicated effectively across various departments within the company. This role involves negotiating rates and addressing any issues that may arise, making it essential for the manager to have strong communication and negotiation skills. In this position, you will be responsible for setting up appointments with both existing accounts and prospective customers. Your goal will be to identify and secure profitable revenue streams within your assigned geographic area. This includes managing both new and established accounts to ensure continued revenue growth and the achievement of strategic sales objectives. You will gather information from potential customers to establish and nurture business relationships, ensuring that their requirements are clearly communicated to the Operations team and other relevant departments. Additionally, you will represent AAA Cooper Transportation at off-site meetings, showcasing the company's commitment to meeting customer requirements and fostering strong partnerships. The role may also involve performing various tasks as assigned by the Terminal Manager, contributing to the overall success of the sales team and the company as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Set up appointments for existing accounts and prospective customers.
  • Identify and secure profitable revenue within the assigned geographic area.
  • Manage new and established accounts for continued revenue and profit growth and achievement of strategic sales objective goals.
  • Gather information from prospective customers in order to establish a business relationship.
  • Communicate to Operations and various departments the customer's requirements.
  • Communicate to customer our commitment to meet requirements established by customer.
  • Assist in the negotiation of price and services provided.
  • Represent AAA Cooper Transportation at off-site meetings.
  • Perform various jobs assigned by Terminal Manager.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sales or account management, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively manage customer relationships.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools to track performance and manage accounts.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach and the ability to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with National Accounts management.
  • Familiarity with less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload transportation services.
  • Knowledge of the Grand Rapids, MI market and surrounding areas.
