About the position

The Logistics Sales Territory Representative at Midwest Motor Express, Inc. is responsible for driving sales growth by soliciting new and expanded business opportunities within a designated territory. This role involves engaging with customers to evaluate their needs, preparing proposals, and maintaining professional relationships to ensure customer satisfaction. The representative will work in a fast-paced, multi-department environment, focusing on maximizing sales and improving service offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Call on regular and prospective customers to solicit new or expanded business opportunities.
  • Confers with customers to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services.
  • Ensure professional handling of the company's products and services.
  • Prepare proposals and bids to obtain sales.
  • Plan and organize daily work schedule to call on existing or potential customers.
  • Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports and weekly work plans.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on competitive pricing and services.
  • Recommend changes in service and pricing by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems and developing solutions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Provide historical records by maintaining records on area and customer revenue.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • Background in Less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation required.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to meet sales goals and close sales effectively.
  • Experience in territory management and prospecting.
  • Strong negotiation and computer skills.
  • Self-confidence and product knowledge.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to build client relationships.
  • Motivation for sales.

Nice-to-haves

  • LTL or other transportation experience preferred but will train the right individual.
  • Experienced product salespersons are also encouraged to apply.
