About the position

The Logistics Sales Territory Manager at Midwest Motor Express, Inc. is responsible for driving sales and expanding business opportunities within a designated territory. This role involves engaging with both existing and prospective customers to promote the company's transportation services, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction while achieving sales targets. The position requires a proactive approach to market analysis, customer relationship management, and collaboration with various departments to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Call on regular and prospective customers to solicit new or expanded business opportunities.
  • Confers with customers to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services.
  • Ensure professional handling of the company's products and services.
  • Prepare proposals and bids to obtain sales.
  • Plan and organize daily work schedule to call on existing or potential customers.
  • Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and regular sales territory manager analysis.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on competitive pricing and services.
  • Recommend changes in service and pricing by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems and developing solutions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Provide historical records by maintaining records on area and customer revenue.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Create a work environment that recognizes and encourages individual contributions of employees.
  • Provide for ongoing investment in associates' education.
  • Maximize return on investments and continually improve processes to eliminate opportunities for errors.
  • Be perceived as a leader in innovation within the industry.
  • Recognize opportunities for new markets and new products.
  • Assess and exceed customers' expectations as a sales representative.

Requirements

  • Background in Less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation required.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to meet sales goals and close sales effectively.
  • Experience in territory management and prospecting.
  • Strong negotiation and computer skills.
  • Self-confidence and product knowledge.
  • Presentation skills and ability to build client relationships.
  • Motivation for sales.

Nice-to-haves

  • LTL or other transportation experience preferred but will train the right individual.
  • Experienced product salespersons are also encouraged to apply.
