About the position

The Sales Territory Manager at Guhring Inc. is responsible for managing sales activities of cutting tools within an assigned territory. This role focuses on providing exceptional product quality, value, and support to customers while maintaining high levels of integrity and professionalism. The manager will work closely with distributors and key manufacturing accounts to promote and sell both standard and engineered special cutting tool products, ensuring customer satisfaction and driving sales growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the sales activity of cutting tools in an assigned territory under the direction of the Regional Manager.
  • Work closely with distributors and key manufacturing accounts to sell, service, and support cutting tool products.
  • Analyze customer needs, answer technical questions, and recommend solutions to grow sales opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain centers of excellence and reference centers to promote company products.
  • Advise management on the strengths and weaknesses of company products compared to competitors.
  • Stay informed about new products and competitor activity to develop new sales strategies.
  • Visit top end users in the sales territory at least once per month.
  • Attend sales planning meetings with authorized distributors at least twice a year.
  • Develop personal relationships with distributor owners or presidents and maintain regular contact.
  • Document cost savings and submit reports to end users and distributors.
  • Train and educate distributor salespeople to promote company products effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or three to five years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of field experience with demonstrated problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage large territories and diverse product offerings.
  • Capacity to keep abreast of new technology and trends in the industry.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with customers, suppliers, and coworkers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a similar market and industry preferred.
  • Exhibits a positive customer service approach when interacting with internal and external candidates.
