About the position

The Sales/Use Tax Senior Manager at Eide Bailly is responsible for leading multi-state sales and use tax engagements, providing consulting services, and developing strategies for tax planning, audit defense, and exposure mitigation. This role involves managing client relationships, mentoring junior professionals, and contributing to the firm's thought leadership in sales and use tax matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead sales/use tax engagements and teams, including consulting and strategy development.
• Develop and maintain internal and external client relationships.
• Participate in practice growth by identifying and implementing client service opportunities.
• Mentor and develop junior professionals in the field of sales/use tax.
• Conduct nexus determinations, taxability analyses, and quantification of potential liabilities.
• Provide consulting on tax processes, controversies, and liaise with tax authorities.
• Manage client communications, project scoping, budgeting, staffing, and billing.
• Monitor sales and use tax developments and issue firm communications.
• Engage in thought leadership activities, including preparing written insights and participating in webinars and trainings.
• Attend professional development and training seminars regularly.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's in Taxation, MBA, LLM in Taxation, or JD preferred.
• 10+ years of related experience in sales/use taxation required.
• Valid CPA license, sales/use tax certification (CMI), LLM in Taxation, or JD required.
• Strong knowledge of sales and use tax regulations and policies.
• Experience with buy and sell side transaction advisory, nexus and taxability, and exposure mitigation.
• Skilled in people development and mentorship.
• Ability to identify and address client needs and manage project workflows.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Negotiated Incentives, Property Tax, or Unclaimed Property is a plus.
