About the position

The Salesforce Dashboard Author at Boston University will play a crucial role in transforming complex data into meaningful visualizations and reports to support the Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) leadership. This position focuses on leveraging data analytics to drive strategic decision-making, enhance philanthropic efforts, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. The role requires advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization techniques, as well as collaboration with various teams to optimize data usage for achieving business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a firm understanding of data storage and access methods.
  • Maintain a network of data professionals for troubleshooting and access.
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data for ingestion.
  • Gather data from external sources through data mining and benchmarking.
  • Use programming languages (DAX, R, Python) for efficient ETL processes.
  • Evaluate performance and identify trends within constituencies and projects.
  • Design reporting vehicles and data visualizations for clients.
  • Provide actionable insights and detailed reports to stakeholders.
  • Uncover analytical needs and determine project scope with clients.
  • Communicate expectations and business rules to clients and leadership.
  • Make evidence-based recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Automate tasks and processes for efficiency and project handoff.
  • Develop strong business communication skills for effective client interaction.
  • Build and maintain a glossary of fundraising metrics and improve dashboard performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5-8 years' experience in Salesforce administration and data analytics or similar field required.
  • Salesforce Administrator certification required (or to be completed in the first year).
  • Product knowledge in Salesforce Sales Cloud required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft product suite required.
  • Working experience with Salesforce Lightning Experience preferred.
  • Experience with analytics solutions such as Power BI, Tableau, R, Python, and/or Salesforce Einstein Analytics preferred.
  • Experience within a Blackbaud eCRM database preferred.
