About the position

The Salesforce Staff Architect at American Express is a leadership role responsible for guiding a team of engineers and solution architects in the development and implementation of Salesforce solutions. This position focuses on establishing architectural standards, enforcing best practices, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance Salesforce adoption across the organization. The role emphasizes hands-on technical involvement, strategic planning, and fostering innovation through technology to improve business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of engineers and solution architects in support of the Center of Excellence (CoE).
  • Design and implement solutions that provide reusable frameworks, interfaces, and services across the portfolio.
  • Ensure architectural consistency with enterprise standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to align implementations with Technical Platform's Blueprint specifications.
  • Contribute to technology direction and influence implementation for measurable business improvements.
  • Work closely with functional teams' leadership and engineers to align and utilize solutions effectively.
  • Apply specialized knowledge of industry standards to assigned initiatives.
  • Identify complex problems and formulate recommendations for resolution.
  • Engage with business partners to understand their objectives and the technical landscape.
  • Drive business product innovation through technology adoption and implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science or Mathematics.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and data-related services.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with Salesforce.
  • Expertise in managing complex integration solutions, including APIs and data integration layers.
  • Experience in design, implementation, and architecture governance in a large corporate environment.
  • Visionary leadership experience in transforming engineering practices and culture.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineering talent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence technologies.
  • Familiarity with open-source contributions and community engagement.
