About the position

The Salesforce Technical Architect will join the internal Salesforce delivery team at Old Dominion, a company that prides itself on being the best in the transportation industry. As a senior member of the Salesforce team, the Salesforce Technical Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing Salesforce solutions that meet the needs of the business. This role will involve close collaboration with IT and Business leadership to define the Salesforce roadmap, with the ultimate goal of enhancing Old Dominion's ability to exceed customer expectations. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in Salesforce architecture, configuration, and customization, along with strong communication skills to effectively engage with various stakeholders. In this role, the Salesforce Technical Architect will design scalable and high-performance Salesforce solutions that adhere to best practices and industry standards. They will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business processes, and translate these into technical solutions on the Salesforce platform. Leading technical design sessions, the architect will architect complex solutions using Salesforce and related technologies, ensuring that all technical solutions are comprehensive and consider end-to-end business processes. The position also requires hands-on technical implementation, focusing on delivering functional solutions on the Salesforce platform. The architect will conduct code reviews for ongoing projects to ensure adherence to Salesforce best practices and maintainability. Additionally, they will engage cross-functional teams to develop complete end-to-end integration solutions and provide guidance and mentorship to the Salesforce development team on both technical and functional design aspects of Salesforce implementations. Evaluating new Salesforce releases and features, the architect will provide recommendations for process improvements while ensuring that all Salesforce solutions align with security and data compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design scalable and high-performance Salesforce solutions that leverage Salesforce best practices and industry standards
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business processes, and translate them into technical solutions on the Salesforce platform
  • Lead the technical design sessions and architect complex technical solutions using Salesforce and related technologies

  • Ensure technical solutions are comprehensive and consider end-to-end business processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology and/or Systems Application Development related roles
  • Minimum 4 years in a Salesforce architecture role
  • Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Certified Application Architect, or Salesforce Certified System Architect preferred
  • Proven experience as a Salesforce Technical Architect in complex environments, ideally within the transportation or logistics industry
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce configuration, Apex programming, Lightning components, and integrations (REST/SOAP APIs)
  • Experience with Release Management, Source Control, and Deployment concepts and technologies such as ANT, SFDC Metadata API, GitHub, Azure DevOps CI/CD Pipelines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical ideas and high-level concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, guiding and mentoring developers
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering business value
