About the position

The Salvage Consultant position at Travelers is responsible for managing and overseeing the salvage process for various lines of business, including Inland Marine, Agribusiness, Property, Oil and Gas, Boat and Yacht, and Ocean Marine. This role involves direct handling of salvage files, coordinating the sale of salvage assets, and serving as a subject matter expert in salvage operations. The consultant will also analyze salvage data, develop best practices, and provide training and mentorship to other salvage personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all types of salvage for Inland Marine, Agribusiness, Property, Oil and Gas, Boat and Yacht, and Ocean Marine.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of the salvage process, ensuring compliance with internal controls and applicable laws.
  • Analyze and evaluate salvage workflow processes, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Design and implement new or enhanced workflow processes and vendor products to maximize salvage returns.
  • Analyze salvage results by Line of Business to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Present analysis and recommendations to claim leadership and business partners.
  • Develop salvage best practices for various lines of business.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to salvage personnel, including onboarding and training.
  • Maintain and acquire necessary Insurance License(s) as required.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Personal Insurance or Business Insurance Property claim handling experience required.
  • Background in Property/Inland Marine claims and salvage - Preferred.
  • Customer Service experience - Preferred.
  • Advanced interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel/pivot tables.
