About the position

As a Yard Worker at LKQ, you will play a crucial role in the removal of parts from vehicles in the salvage yard while ensuring excellent customer service. This position requires a motivated individual who is eager to support operational processes and maintain a clean and safe work environment. You will be responsible for various tasks including pulling parts, operating forklifts, and assisting with customer orders, all while adhering to company policies and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Receives labels from supervisor for parts to be pulled.
  • Pulls and retrieves parts from vehicles in the yard.
  • Inspects parts and notifies supervisor of any damage.
  • Stages parts for delivery drivers.
  • Operates a forklift or order selector to transport parts in and about the warehouse.
  • Sorts and places parts and supplies on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence.
  • Responds to customer counter sales by receiving orders, pulling products, and loading them into customer vehicles.
  • Verifies in-stock position on products for inside sales staff.
  • Classifies all returns according to integrity and condition of parts, and prepares necessary forms for inventory adjustments.
  • Checks in defective parts and enters them into the computer system for return to vendor.
  • Signs off on all delete tickets, providing an explanation as to the reason.
  • Loads trucks according to the delivery schedule and performs a final check off of parts loaded.
  • Puts wheel cores in staging area for return to remanufacturing facilities.
  • Maintains orderliness and housekeeping of assigned work areas.
  • Complies with established company policies and procedures.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to meet medium level physical exertion requirements, including lifting up to 75 pounds frequently.
  • Basic math and reading skills to perform job tasks and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and willingness to work long hours when necessary.
  • Positive, helpful demeanor and commitment to providing excellent customer service.
