About the position

As a Yard Worker at LKQ, you will play a crucial role in the salvage yard by removing parts from vehicles and ensuring excellent customer service. This position requires a motivated individual who is excited to support operational processes and work collaboratively with a team. The role involves physical labor, including lifting and operating machinery, while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Receives labels from supervisor for parts to be pulled.
• Pulls and retrieves parts from vehicles in the yard.
• Inspects parts and notifies supervisor of any damage.
• Stages parts for delivery drivers.
• Operates a forklift or order selector to transport parts in and about the warehouse.
• Sorts and places parts and supplies on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence.
• Responds to customer counter sales by receiving orders, pulling products, and loading them into customer vehicles.
• Verifies in-stock position on products for inside sales staff.
• Classifies all returns according to integrity and condition of parts, and prepares necessary forms for inventory adjustments.
• Checks in defective parts and enters them into the computer system for return to vendor.
• Signs off on all delete tickets, providing an explanation as to the reason.
• Loads trucks according to the delivery schedule and performs a final check of parts loaded.
• Puts wheel cores in the staging area for return to remanufacturing facilities.
• Maintains orderliness and housekeeping of assigned work areas.
• Complies with established company policies and procedures.
• Assumes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate a forklift.
• Ability to meet medium level physical exertion requirements, including lifting up to 75 pounds frequently.
• Basic math and reading skills to perform job tasks and complete necessary paperwork.
• Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and willingness to work long hours when necessary.
• Positive, helpful demeanor with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a salvage yard or similar environment.
• Forklift certification.
