About the position
The Sample Handling Assistant at Collaborative, LLC is responsible for managing laboratory samples, ensuring proper handling, storage, and documentation of specimens. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of laboratory processes and adhering to security protocols to protect donor information.
Responsibilities
- Remove presumptive positives, aliquot for confirmation, and arrange aliquots in order.
- Store positive samples in the refrigerator/freezer area.
- Remove positive samples from the freezer for re-aliquot.
- Receive and open specimens delivered to the laboratory for analysis.
- Review and document acceptability of specimen and chain of custody forms.
- Destroy specimens as needed.
- Clean and maintain the work area daily.
- Adhere to all security procedures to ensure the confidentiality of donor information.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Laboratory experience in clinical settings.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Organizational skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience with laboratory techniques in biology and chemistry.
