About the position

The Operations Assistant at Viejas Arena supports the building service staff in performing repairs and maintenance on various building equipment and fixtures. This role involves a range of tasks related to the upkeep of the arena and associated facilities, ensuring a safe and functional environment for events and activities.

Responsibilities

• Check equipment and annotate logs of facility systems according to policies and procedures.
• Assist with cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of building fixtures and equipment.
• Make minor repairs, including changing ballasts and light bulbs, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
• Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures.
• Assist in painting and preparing surfaces for painting.
• Maintain stock material and supply inventories.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with various departments.
• Ensure all operations are conducted with safety as a priority.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at San Diego State University, taking a minimum of 6 units.
• Basic knowledge and experience in working with hand tools and power tools.
• Background in fixing and repairing building fixtures and equipment preferred.
• Basic experience with carpentry and painting preferred.
• Must possess a valid CA driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• Engineering majors preferred.
