About the position

The Sample Preparation Technician at Bureau Veritas is responsible for processing customer samples according to established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety practices. This role involves receiving and prioritizing client samples, operating industrial equipment for sample preparation, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, and document sample information in the system, including non-conforming samples.
  • Follow processing instructions from administrative and managerial staff through job notes and electronic tools.
  • Use industrial equipment for sample preparation, including drying, crushing, splitting, and pulverizing samples.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Inspect, monitor, and maintain equipment for proper operation.
  • Clean equipment and workstations daily to prevent contamination and equipment degradation.
  • Comply with OSHA, BV Group Policies, and ISO standards relevant to the position.
  • Communicate issues to the Sample Preparation supervisor and report deviations from procedures or unsafe conditions.
  • Submit to regular testing for silica exposure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a production environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual or as part of a team.
  • Ability to operate computer equipment.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • History of good attendance and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
