About the position

The Sample Process Engineer at Zoetis will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of logistics and sample management through innovative digital solutions and automation. This position requires a highly motivated and independent individual who can effectively collaborate with team members to advance projects. The engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining digital processes and solutions to manage information related to samples and supplies. A deep understanding of automation systems is essential to support logistics and sample processing efficiently. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of process improvement through the implementation of automated workflows in an industry environment. In this role, the Sample Process Engineer will design and implement digital solutions to track and maintain sample and supply data. They will own the sample automation systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning optimally to support logistics operations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be necessary to integrate digital processes with existing workflows. The engineer will analyze system performance and make recommendations for improvements, as well as provide technical support and training to users of the sample automation systems. Staying abreast of the latest technology trends and advancements in automation and digital solutions will also be a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement digital solutions to track and maintain sample and supply data.
  • Own the sample automation systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning optimally to support logistics operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate digital processes with existing workflows.
  • Analyze system performance and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide technical support and training to users of the sample automation systems.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technology trends and advancements in automation and digital solutions.

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in engineering, computer science, or related field with a minimum of 6 years industry experience.
  • Experience with automation scheduling software (Agilent VWorks, BioSero Green Button Go, etc.).
  • Knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g., VB.Net, VBScript, Excel VBA, C#.Net, Python, JavaScript).
  • Experience programming at least one relevant liquid handler, with Hamilton liquid handler programming preferred.
  • Experience with Hamilton Verso or Azenta automated stores.
  • Proven experience in automation systems and digital process development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
  • Skills and experience in experimental design, technical problem solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Sample Tracking/Inventory experience.
  • Change Control/Equipment Validation experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preference for Clinical Trial knowledge.
