About the position
The Sandblaster position at FIBA Technologies, Inc. involves operating sandblasting equipment to prepare parts for assembly and ensure they meet specified standards. The role includes on-the-job training and requires physical capability to handle materials and equipment safely.
Responsibilities
- Shovels or pours abrasives into machine hopper.
- Masks specified areas of objects to protect from abrading action.
- Regulates pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through the nozzle.
- Starts equipment that directs abrasive-laden compressed air over surfaces of parts.
- Directs nozzle over surfaces of large parts and manipulates small parts under the nozzle.
- Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Performs light equipment maintenance.
- Assists assembly workers in the assembly of trailers, skids, and ground containment units when not sandblasting.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED education.
- Up to 3 months related experience and on-the-job training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to comprehend instructions.
- Certification in overhead crane operation and safety inspection and Hazmat.
- Must pass respirator fit test and training.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical activities such as stooping, crouching, bending, climbing, and kneeling.
