About the position
The Sanitation Associate is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the facility, including warehouse and production areas. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing machinery, floors, and work areas, while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards. The associate will work independently to ensure a safe and clean environment, report any safety issues, and operate material handling equipment as needed.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize different types of machinery, support equipment, and conveyors.
- Clean and sanitize floors, walls, and specific work areas.
- Perform general warehouse maintenance duties including mopping and sweeping.
- Prioritize work orders based on departmental needs.
- Adhere to all Food, Sanitation, and Safety policies.
- Handle all produce according to SQF standards.
- Maintain cleanliness by picking up trash and debris throughout the property.
- Collect and dispose of all warehouse and facility trash or debris daily.
- Work with the supervisor to minimize warehouse shrink (product loss).
- Report any unfixable or unsafe issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Observe and enforce all safety rules to reduce accidents and injuries.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely.
- Ensure material handling equipment is maintained and report repair needs to the supervisor.
- Comply with all applicable company policies and State/Federal laws.
- Adhere to the work schedule and perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of on-the-job sanitation/maintenance experience required.
- Understanding of general building sanitation/maintenance.
- Experience operating a pallet jack.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong attention to detail.
- Certification on material handling equipment or ability to become certified.
