About the position
The City is currently seeking to fill a position in the Sanitation Department. This exciting position will require the individual to not only work to keep the downtown streets of Newnan clean, but will be the front line of customer service for our downtown residents and business owners. Under the moderate supervision of Sanitation Supervisor, performs intermediate skilled trades work operating heavy equipment in the collection of waste and recyclables, performing equipment inspection and minor repair, performing dump site and landfill maintenance, and related work as apparent or assigned. The duties listed are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Responsibilities
- Drives and operates sanitation collection truck on prescribed route, picking up refuse and transporting to appropriate facilities.
- Drives and operates garbage packer, boom truck, front end loader and other heavy equipment.
- Performs pre-trip safety inspections on trucks and heavy equipment; checks fluids, tires, lights, etc.
- Operates heavy equipment in the operation and maintenance of the department's facilities; hauls brush and debris.
- Performs light preventative and general maintenance on vehicle; cleans and gases vehicle.
Requirements
- Valid State Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Possession of or ability to obtain Flagger certification within one year of hire
- Background screen, drug screen and motor vehicle history
