About the position

The Sanitation Lead is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitization of production machinery, process equipment, and facilities in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. This role includes training and mentoring staff, maintaining logs, and ensuring effective communication within the team. The position requires weekend availability and involves working closely with the Sanitation Manager to uphold safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Complete cleaning and sanitizing of production machinery and facilities.
  • Document cleaning actions and areas needing additional care between shifts.
  • Stay overtime only when necessary due to line changeovers or as directed by the Sanitation Manager.
  • Fill out and email the Daily Sanitation Report to co-leads and management if not completed during the shift.
  • Ensure compliance with PPE, SOPs, and GMP standards.
  • Conduct weekly environmental swabs and maintain chemical usage logs.
  • Train and evaluate new hires on sanitation processes and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance specialists and supervisors regarding issues.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain good employee relations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with cleaning systems and chemical safety.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, scissor lifts, and forklifts.
  • Strong communication skills in English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in food processing environments.
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality assurance standards.
