About the position

The Sanitation Manager is responsible for overseeing sanitation operations within the plant, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards and regulations. This role involves supervising staff, coordinating sanitation programs, and collaborating with various departments to maintain a clean and safe working environment. The manager will also engage in training employees and implementing continuous improvement measures for sanitation processes.

Responsibilities

• Implements and maintains plant sanitation programs and ensures compliance with company standards and as directed by quality.
• Periodically audits sanitation and cleaning processes to ensure compliance with SOPs.
• Implements and oversees plant Sanitation programs.
• Works with Production and other management to plan and schedule work of supervised staff to meet sanitation schedules while maximizing productivity.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Collaborates with QA staff to troubleshoot and analyze sanitation-related issues.
• Recommends measures to continuously improve sanitation methods, equipment performance, and quality of products produced and distributed by the plant.
• Validates SOP's annually or when systems are modified.
• Manages relationships with outside vendors such as the plant chemical supplier.
• Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments including production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting sanitation.
• Provides for the supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management.
• Trains and instructs employees regarding sanitation standards, GMPs, SSOPs and objectives.
• Oversees instruction, implementation and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees.
• Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating.
• Using Good Documentation Practices (GDP), ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format.
• Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs.
• Adhere to all Company Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) to produce a quality good that can be safely delivered to our customers.
• Follow all required work safety practices, including wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A minimum of 6 years of food plant experience, including sanitation duties.
• Possess a working knowledge of sanitation operations; maintains knowledge of current and developing sanitation techniques.
• Have a working knowledge of all procedures and processes within the plant environment.
• Proficient with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluent and proficient in the English language (Bilingual is a plus).
• Ability to multitask.
• Skilled in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
• Must be able to work in a wet/dry environment where you are exposed to sensitive food ingredients and allergens and cleaning chemicals.
• Willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
