About the position

The Sanitation Operator plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the cheesemaking facilities. This position involves working with the Food Sanitation Team to ensure that all equipment and areas are cleaned according to established schedules and safety standards. The role requires operating cleaning systems and performing manual cleaning tasks to uphold food safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Clean all related cheesemaking equipment and facilities according to the master sanitation schedule.
  • Operate CIP system to clean equipment, including drain tables and towers.
  • Manually clean walls, floors, presses, conveyors, and drain table augers in the table room.
  • Remove garbage and clean garbage containers; perform general cleaning in breakroom and other plant areas as directed.
  • Use COP tanks to clean production hoops, lids, and pallets.
  • Document cleaning information in worksheets and sanitation schedules.
  • Titrate chemicals used to proper concentration.
  • Test and maintain chemical dispensing equipment throughout the facility.
  • Fill and replace chemical drums and barrels throughout the plant.
  • Anticipate needs, organize duties, troubleshoot, and problem solve.
  • Comply with all company Safety and GMP policies.
  • Immediately report any food safety or quality issues to management or authorized personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency, preferred.
  • Food manufacturing or food plant sanitation experience, desirable.
  • Knowledge of Panel View operator interface for operation of equipment and CIP systems.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing equipment.
  • Demonstrated monitoring skills to control operations of equipment or systems and watch gauges and other indicators to ensure proper function.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing operating systems.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of two, three, and four-digit numbers using units of weight measurement and counts.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively and in a way that other Team Members will understand.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work-related documents, carry out work instructions, and interpret charts and graphs.
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions or apply general rules to specific problems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
