About the position

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing sanitation activities in both production and non-production areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with safety standards. This role involves planning, organizing, and controlling sanitation operations, ensuring that all areas are maintained in a clean condition and ready for manufacturing. The supervisor will also be responsible for training staff, enforcing safety practices, and maintaining communication with various departments to uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and control sanitation activities in all production and non-production areas.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of the Sanitation Department.
  • Conduct safety orientation and training for employees.
  • Enforce safe work practices and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Communicate and maintain cleaning and food safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform or assist with cleaning duties as necessary.
  • Maintain and follow GMP, HACCP, SQF, OSHA, and OLM Food Solutions standards.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to cleaning methods and plant layouts.
  • Manage scheduling and staffing of the sanitation crew.
  • Train personnel and evaluate their skill levels.
  • Counsel, coach, and evaluate performance of sanitation staff.
  • Document sanitation activities properly.
  • Coordinate special activities with other department managers.
  • Assist with production line and equipment setup.
  • Maintain high levels of sanitation and cleanliness throughout the shift.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents, simple instructions, and product labels.
  • Experience and knowledge in MS Office products (Excel & Word) and SAP preferred.
  • Forklift and pallet jack certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to calculate figures and perform basic math functions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in food manufacturing sanitation practices.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
