About the position

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the plant and grounds to meet sanitation and production needs. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety standards, training staff, and maintaining cleanliness in accordance with FDA/USDA regulations. The supervisor will oversee the sanitation team, manage staffing levels, and implement procedures to improve sanitation methods and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the plant and grounds to meet sanitation and production needs.
  • Train, monitor, and enforce compliance with OSHA and safety standards.
  • Coordinate sanitation functions within the Lancaster facility.
  • Take ownership of the sanitation program and ensure quality product production.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the facility, processing equipment, and surrounding areas.
  • Inspect work of associates to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Hire, motivate, train, and performance manage sanitation staff.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels for cost effectiveness.
  • Guide and oversee the sanitation department.
  • Ensure sanitation associates understand applicable procedures.
  • Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment.
  • Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials or supplies as required.
  • Develop and implement SOPs related to sanitation activities.
  • Maintain sanitation records and submit timely payroll data.
  • Manage and document sanitation associates' scheduling.
  • Recommend and implement procedures to improve sanitation methods and equipment performance.
  • Utilize new technology to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure timely completion of sanitation department goals and action plans.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a similar field.
  • Associate degree in a technical field or 5 years prior supervisory experience in lieu of degree.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to rapid change.
  • Thorough understanding of GMP's, CFR 111, and regulations pertaining to product safety and quality preferred.
  • Computer literate in MS Office, Outlook, and database programs; SAP experience preferred.
