About the position
The SAP Applications Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Technical Liaison at CalSTRS is responsible for enhancing communication and coordination between the Business and IT branches regarding SAP application maintenance and operations. This role aims to ensure timely execution of enhancements and change orders, improve the quality of deliverables, and reduce operational costs while managing technical risks and issues effectively.
Responsibilities
- Collect, organize, and evaluate M&O artifacts and documents related to SAP applications.
- Track and monitor the technical execution by the M&O contractor, ensuring timely and quality completion of projects.
- Identify, communicate, and manage technical risks and issues, providing regular updates and recommendations.
- Provide technical oversight to enhancements or change requests, assessing potential impacts and risks.
- Identify and recommend process improvements and optimization opportunities for SAP application services.
- Act as Project Manager for limited periods, managing project tasks and ensuring adherence to PMO standards.
- Assist with tasks for other CalSTRS teams/programs/projects as directed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields from an accredited institution.
- At least 12 years of experience in IT/IS fields with roles such as technical manager, project manager, or system analyst.
- At least 8 years of experience with open and non-proprietary SDLC methodologies in software development projects.
- At least 5 years of experience managing SAP projects with budgets of $20 million or higher.
- At least 3 years of experience with pension/retirement organizations.
- At least 2 years of experience managing SAP implementations for public sector organizations.
Nice-to-haves
- Five years or more of project management services at a California state agency.
- Two years or more of IT consulting services at a California state agency for SAP implementation.
- Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
