About the position

The SAP Business Objects Developer with Tableau position is a critical role that involves working closely with business intelligence tools to design, develop, and maintain complex reports and universes. This position requires participation in Agile methodologies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum meetings, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives. The developer will be responsible for estimating the Level of Effort (LOE) for backlog items and managing multiple tasks while adhering to project schedules. The role involves performing data analysis and profiling against source systems and data warehouses, as well as defining and preparing solutions for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) changes to existing reports and universes. The developer will extensively utilize back-end functions, procedures, tables, and views required by the Business Objects universes, employing various Business Objects functionalities such as Queries, Slice and Dice, Drill down, and applying filters. Testing solutions to validate requirements is also a key responsibility, which includes developing unit test plans and scripts based on business and system requirements. Collaboration is essential in this role, as the developer will coordinate and demo prototype reviews, ensuring that solutions meet requirements and fine-tuning report deliverables. The position also involves preparing training manuals and providing support to business users to enhance their understanding of the Business Intelligence 4.2 environment and the usage of Web Intelligence reports and BI Launch pad tools. Performance tuning for Universes and Reports, troubleshooting problems, and maintaining Business Objects Universes and documentation are additional responsibilities that the developer will undertake.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum meetings, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives, and other Agile activities
  • Estimate Level of Effort (LOE) for backlog items
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to project schedules
  • Perform data analysis and data profiling against source systems and data warehouse
  • Define and prepare solutions for O&M changes to existing reports and universes and deployment of new reports and universes
  • Extensively use back end functions, procedures, tables, views required by the business objects universes
  • Test solutions to validate whether requirements have been met; develop unit test plans, unit test scripts, and test conditions based on the business and system requirements
  • Coordinate and demo prototype reviews and validate that solutions meet requirements and review/fine tune report deliverables
  • Prepare training manuals and support to business users to promote understanding of Business Intelligence 4.2 environment and usage of Business Intelligence 4.2 Web Intelligence reports, and BI Launch pad tools and features
  • Conduct performance tuning for Universes and Reports
  • Assist the team with troubleshooting problems and developing recommendations/solutions
  • Update/Maintain Business Objects Universes
  • Update/Maintain Business Objects Universe design specification documentation
  • Assist business analysts and testers during system testing as necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Information Management and Technology
  • 8+ years of experience designing complex BI 4.2 Universes
  • 8+ years of experience creating advanced complex reports in BI 4.2
  • Proven experience with Business Objects Universe Design Tool (UDT)
  • Proven experience with Business Objects Information Design Tool (IDT)
  • Proven experience converting Universes from UDT to IDT
  • Tableau experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of features and functions of Business intelligence tools
  • Strong SQL data analysis skills
  • Excellent understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work hybrid schedule as outlined
