About the position

The position involves working as a Data Feeds Specialist for the Medi-Cal Data Warehouse project for the State of California. The role requires developing and maintaining data feed processes from various data sources, ensuring data is prepared for loading into the MIS/DSS data warehouse. The candidate will work closely with a team of specialists and will be responsible for analyzing requirements, writing code, and monitoring processes to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the data feed process from various data sources and transmit data in preparation for loading into the MIS/DSS data warehouse.
  • Analyze DHCS warehouse requirements and research existing claim and eligibility processes to develop the data feed process.
  • Utilize statistical tools such as SAS EG to create reports and trends from the MIS/DSS and support user requests.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years' experience with front-end data warehouse or similar processing, including extracting data for large files from various sources, cleansing data, and preparing the data for loading into a data warehouse.
  • 5 years' experience as an analyst-programmer performing various system development life cycle functions including project planning, requirements analysis, program specifications, coding, testing, and implementation.
  • Experience with paid and denied claims (diagnosis codes, procedure codes, etc.) and data standards (Protected Health Information, privacy standards, HIPAA data elements, and code sets).
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite of tools and VISIO for developing status reports, technical documentation, and communication with team members and stakeholders.
  • Experience in oral communication in various situations such as interacting with the user community, making presentations, facilitating meetings, and user training.
  • Experience transitioning program changes into production.
  • Experience with Medicaid, SSA, or other welfare programs specific to state and federal policies and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years' experience working with Business Objects.
  • 5 years' experience working in a mainframe environment (with working knowledge of COBOL, VSAM file structures, JCL, and TSO).
  • Intermediate level experience with developing program specifications, pseudo code, or logic diagrams.
