About the position

Five Rivers Analytics (FRA), an Akima company, is seeking a Satellite Controller Trainee to join our team in Waianae, Hawaii. This position is critical to supporting the Satellite Control Network Operations, Remote Site, and Mission Partner Support (STORMS) contract at Kaena Point, HI. As a Satellite Controller Trainee, you will be responsible for executing actions necessary to conduct satellite operations and maintenance, ensuring the operability of communications-electronics equipment located at the Remote Tracking Stations (RTS). This role requires a proactive approach to managing satellite operations, including the configuration, operation, and maintenance of assigned systems during satellite support, testing, and maintenance activities. In this position, you will initiate, direct, and verify the completion of all operational events during the acquisition, tracking, and commanding functions of each operational support. You will maintain cognizance of station equipment status, repair and align all equipment according to Technical Orders (TOs), Technical Manuals (TMs), or commercial manuals, and ensure that Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) activities are accomplished as scheduled. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining vehicle folders, preparing daily activity log entries, and performing all required systems administration on mission-related equipment. Responsibilities

  • Configures, operates and maintains assigned systems during satellite support, test, and maintenance activities.
  • Initiates, directs and verifies completion of all operational events during the acquisition, tracking and commanding functions of each operational support.
  • Maintains cognizance of station equipment status.
  • Repairs and aligns all equipment in accordance with TOs/TMs or commercial manuals.
  • Ensures Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) activities are accomplished as scheduled.
  • Maintains vehicle folders.
  • Prepares daily activity log entries.
  • Performs all required systems administration on mission related equipment.

Requirements

  • Must possess an active Secret clearance, or higher.
  • Must have one of the following DoD 8140.03 compliant certifications: CompTIA Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC or SSCP or be able to obtain within 60 days of starting work.
  • Associate's degree in Electronics, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be familiar with the use of and be able to operate electronic test equipment to include multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, signal generators, power meters, and data analyzers.
  • Must be able to climb high ladders, work on elevated platforms and antennas.
  • Must be able to perform strenuous physical work to include walking, lifting, pulling loads, bending, kneeling, sitting and reaching overhead.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with LINUX is preferred.
  • Experience interfacing with Military personnel and government customer.
