About the position

Five Rivers Services is currently seeking a Satellite Controller Technician (Trainee) to work in Kaena Point, HI. The Trainee will execute actions necessary to conduct satellite operations and maintenance required to sustain the operability of communications-electronics equipment located at the Remote Tracking Stations (RTS). This role is critical in ensuring that all satellite operations are conducted smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall mission of the organization. The successful candidate will be part of a team of outstanding professionals dedicated to maintaining high standards of operational excellence. In this position, the Satellite Controller Technician will be responsible for configuring, operating, and maintaining assigned systems during satellite support, test, and maintenance activities. The Trainee will initiate, direct, and verify the completion of all operational events during the acquisition, tracking, and commanding functions of each operational support. Additionally, the technician will maintain cognizance of station equipment status, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally and ready for use. The role also involves repairing and aligning all equipment in accordance with Technical Orders (TOs), Technical Manuals (TMs), or commercial manuals. Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) activities must be accomplished as scheduled, and the technician will be responsible for maintaining vehicle folders and preparing daily activity log entries. Furthermore, the technician will perform all required systems administration on mission-related equipment, ensuring that all systems are up to date and functioning correctly.

Responsibilities

  • Configures, operates and maintains assigned systems during satellite support, test, and maintenance activities
  • Initiates, directs and verifies completion of all operational events during the acquisition, tracking and commanding functions of each operational support
  • Maintains cognizance of station equipment status
  • Repairs and aligns all equipment in accordance with TOs/TMs or commercial manuals
  • Ensures Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) activities are accomplished as scheduled
  • Maintains vehicle folders
  • Prepares daily activity log entries
  • Performs all required systems administration on mission related equipment

Requirements

  • Must possess an active Secret clearance, or higher
  • Associate degree in Electronics or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • Must possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be familiar with the use of and be able to operate electronic test equipment to include multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, signal generators, power meters, and data analyzers
  • Must be able to climb high ladders, work on elevated platforms and antennas
  • Must be able to perform strenuous physical work to include walking, lifting, pulling loads, bending, kneeling, sitting and reaching overhead
  • Must have COMPTIA Cloud+ or be able to obtain certification within 6 months of hire

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with LINUX is preferred
  • Experience interfacing w/ Military personnel and government customer
