About the position

As a Satellite Ground Station Field Service Engineer at Viasat, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for providing technical support for SATCOM earth station customers globally. This role is crucial for ensuring minimal downtime for customers by identifying and resolving technical issues efficiently. You will collaborate with engineering teams and utilize your technical expertise to support the growth of the Technical Services organization within the Antenna Systems Division.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for SATCOM earth station customers worldwide.
  • Interface directly with customers to resolve technical issues.
  • Work independently to identify root causes of problems and implement solutions.
  • Coordinate with the engineering team for prompt issue resolution.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot LAN and other IP equipment on customer sites.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related field experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience with emergency restoral actions on ground station equipment.
  • Experience providing remote technical assistance and problem resolution.
  • Ability to work long hours in stressful environments until customer issues are resolved.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to begin and continue tasks independently.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new and dynamic situations.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Willingness to be on-call after hours up to 30%.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including international travel.
  • Current US passport or ability to obtain one within six months of start date.
  • Ability to pass skills testing for grip and static strength, dynamic lifting, and work/positional tolerances.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years of experience with Viasat specific products.
  • Education and training in satellite communication systems.
  • Direct experience repairing and installing satellite earth stations.
  • Advanced analytical skills for troubleshooting problems.
  • Experience working in Sales Force, ServiceNow, or other ticketing tools.
  • Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
