About the position

The Satellite Ground System Integration & Test position at General Atomics involves supporting the Ground Segment Integrated Product Team (IPT) for satellite programs. The role focuses on ensuring that the integrated satellite simulation test bed meets requirements and supports regression testing of flight software deliveries. The position requires collaboration with engineering staff, development of test plans, and management of flight software versions, among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Ground Segment IPT for assigned program as an individual contributor.
  • Ensure the integrated satellite simulation test bed solution meets requirements and supports regression testing of flight software deliveries.
  • Support the development of Interface Control Documents (ICD), Interface Definition Documents (IDD), and test plans/procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff on design, integration, and test matters.
  • Ensure alignment of the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) with subsystem integration and verification plans.
  • Develop integration plans for the satellite vehicle simulation test bed based on capability deliveries.
  • Coordinate subsystem integration plans based on flight software delivery schedules.
  • Define integration test cases as part of the integration plan.
  • Verify space vehicle simulation test bed requirements using test automation.
  • Manage flight software versions on the test bed.
  • Support the development of ground and operations-related program documentation.
  • Develop training material for operational readiness.
  • Collaborate in the design of new space systems, including requirement alignment and conducting design reviews.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair systems using standard engineering principles.
  • Provide documentation and make technical presentations as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Observe all laws and regulations while conducting business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Python for integration and test automation.
  • Ability to identify and incorporate libraries and other reuse baselines for efficiency.
  • Experience leveraging object-oriented principles, design patterns, and behavior-driven development to develop test modules.
  • Experience developing test-automation modules to verify subsystem requirements and conduct regression testing.
  • Familiarity with bus subsystems (GNC, Prop, EPS, CDH, RF) to develop test command sequences against flight software deliveries.
  • Experience testing Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) capabilities of flight software.
  • Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with test automation and API tools such as Postman and Cucumber.
  • Prior experience as a systems engineer supporting satellite command and control and mission planning systems.
