About the position

The Drafter/CAD Operator position at SAIC involves providing drafting and documentation support for the US Navy at NSWC Crane. The role focuses on creating and updating Technical Data Packages using SolidWorks and CREO 3D parametric software, requiring quick adaptation to processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Creates and modifies detailed models and drawings using SolidWorks and other CAD software.
• Works closely with Engineers, Technicians, and other CAD Operators to capture design and revise existing documentation.
• Attends drawing CCB meetings to discuss design changes.
• Works independently and collaboratively to effect changes to design and documentation.
• Performs a variety of moderate to complex tasks using tools such as calipers, gauges, tape measures, and rulers for design development and verification.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in a related field with 3 to 5 years of experience in 3D parametric software, or a High School Diploma/GED with 5 to 8 years of related experience.
• Experience with 3D parametric software or SolidWorks.
• Hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and ISO procedures.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to communicate complex ideas in a production environment.
• Ability to complete tasks independently and as a team member with varying levels of instruction.
• Basic understanding of CAD operations and common drawing standards.
• Basic understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing of technical drawings and data packages.
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance, with SAIC sponsoring the process.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of ASME-Y14.100 and MIL-STD-31000 standards.
• Understanding of military standards and specifications.
