About the position

The SCADA Operator I position involves responsible technical work in dispatching equipment and personnel, providing customer service, and performing clerical duties to support the Electric, Gas, Water, and Sewer utilities as well as Public Works operations. The role requires effective communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to operate SCADA systems and manage service orders efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls from internal and external customers via two-way radio and telephone.
• Dispatch assignments to field personnel and relay necessary information clearly and accurately.
• Generate, update, assign, and close service orders using various software programs.
• Utilize basic SCADA system operations to view and acknowledge alerts.
• Develop and maintain various reports and spreadsheets and handle outgoing mail.
• Schedule appointments for field personnel on-site work.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver's License with an active and consecutive 3-year verifiable driving history.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with outage management systems.
• Knowledge of two-way radio operation.
• Knowledge of electric and natural gas distribution systems.
