About the position

The Scala Developer position at Alchemy involves working with advanced Big Data technologies and programming languages to develop data-focused applications. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders to design data solutions, implement ETL processes, and optimize data models within the Databricks environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data application development and a strong understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS and DataBricks.

Responsibilities

• Experience with advanced Bigdata technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Hive, SQL and NoSQL.
• Strong in programming languages with hands-on experience: Scala and/or Python.
• Experience with public cloud technologies such as AWS, DataBricks is required.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements, assess existing data structures, and design appropriate solutions.
• Develop and implement data migration strategies, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, leveraging Databricks' capabilities and best practices.
• Design and optimize data models within the Databricks environment, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and adherence to data governance standards.
• Work closely with data engineers and other stakeholders to support analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives on the Databricks platform.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members involved in the migration process, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and standards.
• Collaborate with other teams/applications to ensure compatibility, performance optimization, and scalability of DB and environments.
• Apply emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in data management, analytics, and cloud computing, and apply them to enhance the Databricks migration process.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with data-focused application development such as ETL, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, SQL, AWS, DataBricks.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen understanding of data analytics and AI-driven insights.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale CRM and digital projects from inception to completion.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology landscapes and business requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of ETL Tools, DEVOPS, Github is preferable.
• Exposure to ElasticSearch, Graph DB is a big plus.
• Exposure to machine learning is a plus.
• Knowledge of Finance, custody services, data privacy, AML and related compliance domain is a plus.
• Relevant certifications are a plus.
