About the position
The Scala Engineer position is a contract role focused on designing and developing scalable solutions for a next-generation swaps lifecycle and booking platform. The role involves collaboration with various teams to create efficient and maintainable solutions while leading software engineers in implementing database best practices. The engineer will also conduct impact assessments for technical changes and perform proof of concept work to adopt leading practices for scalable and reliable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Designing and developing scalable solutions for the next-generation swaps lifecycle and booking platform.
- Collaborating with application development, DBA, and UNIX teams to analyze requirements and create efficient, maintainable solutions.
- Leading software engineers to implement database best practices and delivering high-performance solutions.
- Performing end-to-end impact assessments for technical changes, ensuring minimal disruption to upstream and downstream systems.
- Conducting proof of concept (POC) work and research to adopt leading practices for scalable and reliable solutions.
- Tuning SQL queries, managing procedures, functions, and optimizing performance on large-scale databases like Oracle Exadata.
- Contributing to database capacity planning and resource management for optimal performance on enterprise-level systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in database architecture and development.
- Extensive hands-on experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle Exadata or similar MPP databases.
- Strong expertise in OLTP systems, data warehousing, and query performance tuning.
