About the position
The position is within the Taxpayer Services Division of the IRS, focusing on processing returns and ensuring accurate assignment of sequence numbers and document handling. The role requires knowledge of IRS systems and procedures, with opportunities for career progression from GS-05 to GS-11 based on performance and experience.
Responsibilities
- Process returns, FTD's, and IRP documents using IRS numbering system.
- Ensure correct assignment of sequence numbers to avoid overflow conditions.
- Detach unnecessary schedules and make necessary repairs to documents before scanning.
- Review SCRIPS breaker transmittal sheets prior to scanning jobs.
- Scan documents and associate appropriate W-2's with scanned documents.
- Review error messages on console and determine corrective actions.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06 level in the Federal service, including experience with equipment diagnostics and software applications.
- A Bachelor's degree or four years of education above high school in any field from an accredited institution, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above.
- Must meet time in grade requirements for positions above GS-05.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a federal agency or similar public sector role.
- Familiarity with IRS systems and procedures.
