About the position

The SCARS System Engineer will support the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) program, focusing on the Simulator Division's SCARS initiative. This role involves improving cyber security, standardizing simulation components, and enhancing the reuse of models and data through a modular open-systems architecture. The engineer will participate in meetings, review requirements and deliverables, and support acquisition activities related to SCARS standards and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in SCARS Engineering Capabilities Board (SECB) meetings, preparing and presenting briefings, and executing follow-up tasks.
  • Review requirements, standards, and architecture artifacts in support of the SCARS initiative.
  • Review SCARS Prime and Affiliate Contractor deliverables and provide recommendations to government program and engineering focal points.
  • Evaluate SCARS site readiness based on Risk Management Framework artifacts and technical drawings.
  • Develop SCARS program roadmaps and prepare technical briefings for stakeholders.
  • Support SCARS acquisition activities, including contract modifications and coordination with SCARS Partners.
  • Define and communicate the technical scope of SCARS initiatives through RFP-ready documents and presentations.
  • Develop and present SCARS briefings and training packages as directed by the government.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and possess a Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree with 14 years of experience or a Master's degree with 12 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Air Force or DOD acquisitions, program planning, and coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering and standards processes.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework and Cyber security approval processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using Microsoft Project and Excel for program planning.
  • Knowledge of Air Force Flight Training Simulator systems and components.
  • Experience with cloud technology, software virtualization, and containerization.
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Database Management, and Data Analysis.
