About the position

The SCEIS Communications Director will play a crucial role in the Department of Administration's Office of Strategic Communications, focusing on enhancing communication strategies for the SC Enterprise Information System (SCEIS). This position involves developing, coordinating, and disseminating communications across various platforms to ensure stakeholders are informed about system activities, ultimately improving government processes for citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee SCEIS Communications and collaborate with all areas of SCEIS to develop weekly update emails, announcements, web content, PowerPoint presentations and other forms of written and visual communications.
  • Collaborate with SCEIS team leads and management to develop communications plans for projects and initiatives, ensuring project teams are aware of communication activities, potential risks, and customer feedback.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with SCEIS and Admin leadership, employees, SCEIS users, customers, and agency partners to identify and deliver effective communications to meet agency and customer needs.
  • Attend SCEIS meetings to encourage communication planning and evaluate ongoing communication needs.
  • Oversee and manage the SCEIS website, coordinating with all pertinent SCEIS functional teams and data owners to ensure website content is maintained appropriately and regularly updated.
  • Assist Admin Strategic Communications with internal and external communications efforts or projects as needed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, graphic design, mass communications, English or a related field of study.
  • Five (5) years' experience in marketing, public relations or public information.
  • In-depth knowledge of how to implement communications in an enterprise system.
  • Expertise in writing and articulating complex concepts.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff internally and externally.
  • Self-starter with effective time management skills.
  • Skills to make effective presentations to varied audiences and to prepare reports designed to support decision making.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong working knowledge of the Associated Press Stylebook.
  • Proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite, including but not limited to Adobe Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign.
  • Working knowledge of business, financial, procurement, payroll and human resources processes.
  • Knowledge of state government and familiarity with SCEIS.
