About the position
The SCENARIO AND EXPERIMENTATION ANALYST position within the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff involves assisting in the planning and execution of joint wargaming and experimentation events. The role focuses on developing operationally challenging scenarios that reflect realistic threats and capabilities, and requires collaboration with military leadership to present findings and assessments. The analyst will play a critical role in evaluating joint warfighting concepts and ensuring the effectiveness of wargaming methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Joint Concept authors to research and develop global and operationally challenging scenarios.
- Design events (wargames or experiments) that incorporate current and future military capabilities and tactics.
- Manage the planning, leading, or supporting of joint wargaming and experimentation events.
- Prepare and present formal briefings and plans to senior military and civilian leadership regarding wargames and experiments.
- Research and review future concepts and evaluate assessments of completed wargames.
- Collect and analyze research to identify relevant DoD/global trends and lessons learned.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
- Experience in selecting and applying military operations and geopolitical situations to develop wargames.
- Utilization of experimentation analysis, design, execution, and planning methodologies.
- Ability to develop and present scenario products and briefings to participants.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with military operations and foreign military operations.
- Familiarity with joint wargaming and experimentation concepts.
